BA in Honours in Music
York University — Toronto, Ontario
About this program
York University's Music BA (Honours) is a 120-credit degree focused on music studies — music history, criticism, and scholarly research — alongside foundational musicianship and practical musical skills. All first-year Music students begin in the BFA program; those whose interests centre on music scholarship may elect to move to the Honours BA at the end of first year. The BA Honours provides flexibility for students who want to combine music with a second major. All Honours music majors complete at least 30 upper-level music credits (at or above the 3000 level), including 18 credits in studies courses. The program provides broad musical training while emphasizing analytical, critical, and writing skills for careers in music scholarship, journalism, administration, and related fields.
