About this program
Oakland University is a public research university in Rochester, Michigan, home to the NASM-accredited School of Music, Theatre and Dance. The BM in Music Technology prepares students for emerging careers in the music industry by combining musical training with hands-on education in digital music production, live sound, studio recording, film and video scoring, and music technology business. The program integrates music theory and composition with training in industry-standard recording hardware and software, culminating in a professional internship. OU's digital music lab provides professional-caliber equipment including studio microphones, digital workstations, mixing boards, audio processors, and effects plugins. Students gain practical experience producing sound for SMTD's over 100 annual public concerts and campus events.
