About this program
Oakland University is a public research university in Rochester, Michigan, home to the nationally respected, NAST-accredited School of Music, Theatre and Dance. The BFA in Theatre Design and Technology prepares students for professional careers in scenic design, costume design, lighting design, sound, stage management, props, and house management within a comprehensive production training environment. OU students in this program work on every facet of production from freshman year forward, building a resume while training. The presence of Meadow Brook Theatre — Michigan's largest Actors' Equity company — directly on campus provides design and technology students the rare opportunity to observe and sometimes assist on professional Equity productions, an advantage unavailable at most comparable programs.
