BA in Theatre

Oakland University — Rochester Hills, MI

BATheatre (General)Rochester Hills, MI

About this program

Oakland University is a public research university in Rochester, Michigan, approximately 25 miles north of Detroit, founded in 1957. The School of Music, Theatre and Dance (SMTD) is one of the most respected performing arts programs in the state, housed in the recently renovated Varner Hall and holding simultaneous accreditation from NASM, NAST, and NASD. The BA in Theatre offers broad training in all areas of the performing arts — acting, directing, design, technical theatre, and theatre history — within a liberal arts framework. Uniquely, Oakland is one of only a handful of undergraduate programs in the nation to have a professional Actors' Equity company on campus: Meadow Brook Theatre, Michigan's largest Equity theatre, provides unmatched observation and collaboration opportunities for every theatre student.
