BM in Instrumental Performance
Oakland University — Rochester Hills, MI
About this program
Oakland University is a public research university in Rochester, Michigan, home to the NASM-accredited School of Music, Theatre and Dance. The BM in Instrumental Performance is the professional performance degree for instrumentalists — strings, brass, woodwinds, and percussion — providing intensive training preparing graduates for performing careers, graduate study, and professional orchestral or chamber music work. A defining feature of the OU BM program is the Oakland Symphony Orchestra in residence on campus, with Detroit Symphony Orchestra Affiliate Applied Faculty providing mentorship directly connected to one of America's great orchestras. The annual David Wilder Daniels Young Artists Concerto Competition gives BM students the opportunity to perform as soloists with the Oakland Symphony.
