BM in Music (Accompanying)

California State University-Fullerton — Fullerton, CA

BMMusicFullerton, CA

About this program

California State University, Fullerton's NASM-accredited School of Music offers the Bachelor of Music in the Accompanying Concentration for pianists who wish to specialize in collaborative piano and accompaniment as a professional career path, rather than solo performance. This track is one of two emphases within the Keyboard Concentration at CSUF, alongside solo performance (piano, organ, or harpsichord). The program prepares pianists for careers as professional accompanists, collaborative artists in chamber music and vocal contexts, opera repetiteurs, and church organists/pianists. All keyboard faculty are active performers, teachers, and scholars. Students have opportunities to work extensively with vocal and instrumental soloists on campus, accompanying singers in Opera Theatre, voice lessons, and student recitals, and collaborating with instrumental students in chamber music settings. The CSUF School of Music provides rich collaborative opportunities through its many ensembles and performance programs. All music majors must show basic proficiency as a singer or instrumentalist to gain entrance to the School. Even students denied university admission may be advocated for admission by the School based on talent.
