About this program
California State University, Fullerton's NASM-accredited School of Music offers the Bachelor of Music in the Instrumental Concentration for woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. The Wind, Percussion & Brass Program provides an exciting variety of opportunities for a diverse music education, from symphonic winds to orchestra and jazz bands to chamber ensembles. The program offers a wide range of repertoire and performance skills to meet the demands of today's musicians. The University Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, and University Band maintain an ongoing tradition of excellence in wind performance. These ensembles perform works by Sousa, Gershwin, Bernstein, Ives, Copland, and others. The University Orchestra is dedicated to training outstanding instrumentalists in a wide range of orchestral styles, collaborating with university choruses, Opera Theatre, faculty artists, and internationally renowned guests. Students have numerous opportunities for orchestral repertoire study in master class settings with CSUF faculty and professionals from throughout the United States and abroad. All music majors must show basic proficiency as a singer or instrumentalist to gain entrance to the School. Even students denied university admission may be advocated for admission by the School of Music based on musical talent.
