BA in Acting: Classical and Contemporary (Hons)
Royal Central School of Speech and Drama — London, England
About this program
The BA (Hons) Acting: Classical and Contemporary at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (Central) is a three-year conservatoire acting training program at one of the world's leading specialist performing arts institutions. Central is a constituent college of the University of London. This program replaced the previous BA (Hons) Acting course (final intake was in 2024; those students are still completing their degrees). The new program trains actors for careers in classical and contemporary theatre, screen, TV, film, and audio. Industry professionals are brought in from Year 2, and students work with visiting directors from companies including the Royal Shakespeare Company, Almeida Theatre, and Out of Joint. Training includes speech and drama, Shakespeare and verse, acting methodologies, screen and camera work, radio/voice work, and a professional-standard industry showcase in the final year. Applications via UCAS. Recent guest faculty have included directors Michael Grandage, Lindsay Posner, and Max Stafford-Clark, and actors James Purefoy and Kit Harington.
