Royal Birmingham Conservatoire — Birmingham, West Midlands
About this program
The BMus (Hons) Music Technology at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC) is a four-year, full-time professional degree in music technology — the Principal Study: Music Technology pathway within the broader BMus program. Students graduate with a named degree: BMus (Hons) Music — Music Technology. RBC's facilities include seven recording studios, editing and mastering suites with SSL mixing desks, professional microphones, and recording equipment, all within the £57 million conservatoire building. The program develops skills in recording, mixing, mastering, digital production, audio engineering, and creative music technology practice. Students work alongside performing musicians, composers, and jazz students, gaining an unusually integrated conservatoire education that bridges technical production and live performance. RBC is part of Birmingham City University's Faculty of Arts, Design and Media, enabling cross-disciplinary collaboration with students in media, film, design, and new technologies. Birmingham City University also offers a separate BSc Music Technology for students who want a more science-oriented approach; the BMus Music Technology at RBC is the conservatoire pathway, grounded in musical artistry. Applications via UCAS; admission typically by portfolio or creative work.
