About this program
The BMus (Hons) Jazz at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire is a four-year, full-time professional jazz degree providing intensive training in performance, improvisation, arrangement, and composition for a career in jazz and contemporary music. Housed in RBC's purpose-built £57 million building, jazz students benefit from the dedicated Eastside Jazz Club on campus and access to Birmingham's vibrant music scene. The program develops performers, improvisers, and composers through individual applied lessons, ensemble participation, and a rigorous academic and practical curriculum. RBC was named the top-performing UK conservatoire in the National Student Survey (NSS) and ranks Top 10 in the UK for Music (Guardian League Table). Students are part of Birmingham City University's Faculty of Arts, Design and Media, enabling cross-disciplinary projects with students across the arts.
