About this program
The BA (Hons) Stage Management at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire is a three-year, full-time program producing confident, industry-ready stage managers. Students work their way through progressively senior roles — Assistant Stage Manager in Year 1, Deputy Stage Manager in Year 2, and Stage Manager in Year 3 — on real public productions, developing all skills required for a professional career. Training covers stage management, lighting, sound, wardrobe, set design, props sourcing and maintenance, administration, event management, and the management of touring companies. Students work alongside Acting, Applied Theatre, and Music students at RBC, developing authentic industry experience through real productions at professional Birmingham venues including the Crescent Theatre, Patrick Centre at Birmingham Hippodrome, and The Old Rep. Stage Management is based at Unit 3B Heneage Street, which includes a classroom, props/furniture/costume stores, fitting room, and a workshop. Applications are made via main UCAS (not UCAS Conservatoires). An interview is required; no audition fee.
