The Bachelor of Music in Performance at the Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) at Roosevelt University is the conservatory-level professional performance degree from one of America’s oldest music conservatories — founded as Chicago Musical College in 1867 by Florenz Ziegfeld, Sr., the fourth conservatory established in the United States. The Music Conservatory of CCPA is housed in the historic Auditorium Building (designed by Adler & Sullivan, 1889) at 430 South Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago, with proximity to the Chicago Symphony Center, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Goodman Theatre, Jazz Showcase, Millennium Park, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Approximately 600 students from more than 40 states and 25 countries study at CCPA. The Music Conservatory’s faculty consists primarily of world-class professional musicians, including nearly 30 members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Lyric Opera of Chicago (half of whom are principals). Performance majors receive intensive applied study, classical Art Music Canon repertoire through Large Ensemble and Chamber Music performance, historical performance practice, contemporary music exploration, and individual artistry/musical vision development. The Music Conservatory presents more than 150 free concerts and recitals each year, all open to the public. Roosevelt University is a founding member of NASM, accredited since 1928. CCPA offers a transformational artistic and academic experience with comparatively affordable tuition; CCPA scholarships ranging from partial to full tuition are automatically considered for all admitted applicants.
