About this program

The BM in Performance at the CCPA Music Conservatory prepares students for careers as professional classical performers. Principal study areas include piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, voice, and classical guitar. CCPA was founded in 1867 as the Chicago Musical College — the fourth conservatory in America — merged with Roosevelt University in 1954, and is a founding NASM member. The conservatory presents more than 150 free concerts and recitals annually. Students benefit from downtown Chicago location with access to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Jazz Showcase, Pritzker Pavilion, and a thriving contemporary music scene. Faculty are active performers with international careers. A fourth-semester review determines readiness for upper-division advancement. Admission to Roosevelt University does not confer admission to the Music Conservatory; a separate audition is required.
