About this program

The BFA in Acting at CCPA Theatre Conservatory is a pre-professional four-year conservatory degree. Located at 430 S. Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago, CCPA sits steps from the Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf, Lookingglass, and Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. Approximately 200 students total are enrolled across the three Theatre BFA programs combined. The program is grounded in Stanislavski-based scene study and develops students through acting technique, voice, movement, on-camera acting, period styles, and Shakespeare and heightened text. Students are guaranteed onstage performance credit every semester. CCPA was founded in 1867 as the Chicago Musical College, the fourth conservatory in America, merging with Roosevelt University in 1954. CCPA is a founding member of NASM. Roosevelt University was founded on a social justice mission that infuses the curriculum. Application to CCPA is separate from general Roosevelt admissions.
