About this program
The BM in Music Education with Instrumental track at Rowan University's College of the Arts, offered in collaboration with the College of Education, prepares instrumental musicians for K-12 music teaching careers. Students earn New Jersey K-12 music licensure upon graduation. The program is a double major (BM in Music Education + BA in Education) and requires audition for admission. Students begin observing and working in public school music classrooms during their sophomore year, with increasing field experience each year. The program culminates with a year of student teaching. NASM-accredited. More than 75 public performances are presented by the College annually. The Department of Music is housed in the College of Performing Arts at Rowan, offering ensembles in choir, band, jazz, percussion, opera, and more.
