BM in Historical Performance
Oberlin Conservatory of Music — Oberlin, OH
About this program
Oberlin Conservatory's Division of Historical Performance requires students to master their chosen period instrument and understand the cultural and musical history behind what they perform. Thirteen period instruments are offered — including baroque violin, baroque cello, baroque flute, baroque oboe, harpsichord, fortepiano, recorder, and viola da gamba — among the most comprehensive historical performance offerings at the undergraduate level in the US. Students may pursue a four-year BM or a five-year program combining historical performance with a modern instrument BM or BA from Oberlin College.
