BATheatre (General)Baton Rouge, LA

About this program

Louisiana State University's BA in Theatre is offered through the School of Theatre & Film within the College of Music & Dramatic Arts — a NAST-accredited school with a long tradition of excellence in theatre, dance, and film. The school is also home to Swine Palace, LSU's professional Equity theatre company, which operates on campus and provides students with direct professional experience working alongside Equity actors and directors. Students choose from five concentrations: Arts Administration (arts as industry; management; development); Design & Technology (full design and technical production coursework; work on LSU Theatre and Swine Palace productions); Performance (actor training in Stanislavski and Meisner using the Seven Pillars Acting technique, developed by faculty member Sonya Cooke); Physical Theatre (aerial work, stage combat, devised theatre); and Theatre Studies (comprehensive performance, production, and scholarship). All concentrations complete 120 credit hours. Performance concentration seniors participate in national and local industry showcases.
