About this program
GVSU's BM (Bachelor of Music) is 'designed for students who demonstrate exceptional preparation for college-level applied music and for whom graduate school in performance is a realistic goal.' NASM-accredited. 84+ CREDIT HOURS IN MUSIC depending on track (instrumental, keyboard, or vocal) and initial keyboard placement. REQUIREMENTS: Department concert attendance; Music Major Seminar attendance; keyboard musicianship requirements; HALF-RECITAL (junior year; faculty-approved); FULL RECITAL (senior year). MID-PROGRAM REVIEW (MPR): Required at end of sophomore year for BM students. Faculty committee evaluation of overall progress. Successful completion required for admission to upper-division courses. ACCELERATED PATHWAY: BM students in Performance Concentration may apply for the BM/MM accelerated pathway if applicable. Instruments available: piano, harpsichord, organ, voice, guitar, harp, string, woodwind, brass, percussion.
