About this program
GVSU's BA in Theatre provides flexible, practical education in the theatrical arts within a broad liberal arts framework. 'The program prepares students for careers in the entertainment industry and for careers that require skills in creativity, collaboration, communications, and problem-solving.' GRAND VALLEY SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL: Michigan's oldest and largest Shakespeare Festival, operating annually since 1993. 'More than 6,000 patrons attend our Festival activities each season, which include mainstage performances of the Bard's works, high school touring shows, workshops, new plays projects, symposia with visiting scholars, an all-campus student art competition, a Renaissance Festival, and other events.' SCHOLARSHIP AUDITIONS: Held at Michigan Thespians Festival AND at the annual Theatre Day at GVSU. STUDENT-RUN PROJECTS: Always looking for actors, directors, writers, and theatre technicians.
