About this program
FSU's BFA in Acting is described as 'an extremely competitive program preparing highly talented students for professional theatre, film, and television.' Approximately 12-24 students are accepted per year. CURRICULUM: Sequence of courses in acting, voice, movement, and specialized workshops. Students perform in the Fallon Theatre (proscenium), Lab Theatre, and Studio Theatre. Five subscription shows produced each season including classical and contemporary plays and musicals. Must maintain 3.00 GPA in major requirements AND 3.00 overall GPA. LONDON THEATRE EXPERIENCE: In the fall of their third year, students attend the FSU London Study Center. They work with England's best teachers and artists, attend theatre every week, and visit other countries during breaks. 'Perhaps no other college or university has a finer London Study Center than Florida State University.' ADMISSION PROCESS: Specialized Admission — apply to BOTH the School of Theatre and FSU University Admissions. Step 1: Complete FSU application (admissions.fsu.edu) + pay $30 fee. Step 2: Complete BFA Acting Supplemental Application (added to Application Checklist). Step 3: Upload prescreen materials via FSU Admissions Portal. Deadline: December 1. Step 4: If invited, attend in-person audition in January or February. The audition 'must be accompanied by an acceptable academic record and up-to-date transcripts and resume.' SCHOLARSHIPS: Awarded to incoming BFA students based on academic ability and potential.
