About this program
Elon's BFA in Music Theatre accepts approximately 16 new students annually — ensuring each student receives close, personal attention. The programme 'trains students in the three essential elements of music theatre: music, acting and dance.' CURRICULUM: Studio voice lessons (applied); music theory and skills; studio dance courses in jazz, modern, tap, ballet, and musical theatre dance; at least four semesters of acting; history and literature of music theatre; capstone senior seminar project. INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES: Music Theatre of Wichita; Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera; Santa Fe Opera; Flat Rock Playhouse; Arkansas Repertory Theatre; The Muny; Paper Mill Playhouse; Broadway productions and professional casting agencies. SENIOR CASTING SERIES: Top agents and casting directors invited on campus to audition graduating seniors. Many students find professional representation or land significant jobs as a result. Some classes also perform a showcase at 54 Below or Joe's Pub in NYC. STUDY ABROAD: Classical studies in Greece; semester residencies in London; internships with professional London theatres. SCHOLARSHIPS: Up to $8,000/year; all auditionees automatically considered.
