BS in Theatre Education — Certification Track in Education
Columbus State University — Columbus, GA
About this program
CSU's BSEd in Theatre Education, Certification Track provides a solid knowledge base emphasizing pedagogy, curriculum content, and assessment consistent with national, state, and local standards for K-12 drama instruction. In the first two years, students complete studies establishing eligibility for admission to teacher education. This is followed by a sequence of campus and field-based courses culminating in the student teaching semester during the senior year. All educator preparation programs at CSU are approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, providing licensure to teach drama in Georgia's primary and secondary schools, with reciprocity to other states. The program combines this teacher preparation with rigorous theatre training — students participate in the same productions, develop the same performance and technical skills, and receive the same NAST-accredited curriculum as BA and BFA students.
