BA in Acting for Stage and Screen
Columbia College Chicago — Chicago, IL
About this program
Columbia College Chicago's BA in Acting for Stage and Screen provides the same foundational acting training — Stanislavski-based technique, voice and movement, physical approaches, on-camera technique, stage combat, and scene study — within a more flexible liberal arts framework than the BFA. No audition is required for program admission. BA students train alongside BFA students and are eligible to audition for all 40+ annual productions. The degree allows students to take elective coursework outside the major, add a minor (popular choices include the Stage Combat Minor, Musical Theatre Minor, Entrepreneurship, or Live and Performing Arts Management), or pursue a double major. The flexibility of the BA makes it the ideal choice for students who see acting as a primary discipline but want room to explore broadly across Columbia's curriculum. Training is delivered by the same faculty of working professionals and Tony Award winners as the BFA, in the same Chicago professional theatre community context. The **Faculty Recognition Award** (up to full tuition; five full-tuition awards annually) is available to BA applicants who submit optional portfolio materials via Columbia Connect — submissions are not required for admission but are the only path to scholarship consideration.
