BFA in Theatre Arts — Acting Concentration
Coastal Carolina University — Conway, SC
About this program
CCU's BFA in Theatre Arts, Acting Concentration is a structured, intensive, studio-based professional training program. The curriculum builds eight progressive levels of acting coursework centered on the foundational work of Stanislavski, progressing through on-camera technique, vocal technique, movement studies, and script analysis. History and criticism courses ground students in the broader theatrical canon. Students are trained in the classroom and in an aggressive production season — casting occurs across all four BFA concentrations and in all genres. All production roles for the main stage season at Wheelwright Auditorium (930-seat) and Edwards Black Box Theater are filled by undergraduate students. The program attracts students committed to structured, intensive, studio-based training as part of a company of actors, singers, designers, directors, and technicians. On-campus final auditions are full-day events including the audition, campus tour, Q&A with current students, and afternoon workshops. Faculty are working theatre professionals whose credits span Broadway, regional, and university theatre. CCU has a 13-year-running New Works developmental reading initiative and an annual Senior Showcase presented in New York City.
