About this program
The Bachelor of Music in Music Performance at Bethany College is the conservatory-track degree for students preparing for careers as professional performers and for graduate study in performance. The program is offered through Bethany’s NASM-accredited Department of Music (NASM-accredited since 1935). The mission of the Bethany College Music Department is to nurture, challenge and guide developing musicians, to train the future educators for both classroom and studio areas, and to provide performance opportunities for students, faculty, and community members. Performance majors receive intensive private studio instruction in the major instrument or voice, participate in Bethany’s choral and instrumental ensembles, prepare junior and senior recitals, and benefit from the Lindsborg community’s deep musical heritage tied to Swedish-American Lutheran tradition. Performance students join in the historic Bethany Oratorio Society’s annual Handel’s Messiah performance — the longest running annual performance of Messiah in North America, dating to 1882. Bethany is a private Lutheran liberal arts college (~600 students) founded in 1881 by Swedish Lutheran immigrants and affiliated with the ELCA.
