About this program

Radford University is a mid-sized public university in the New River Valley of southwest Virginia with one of the most comprehensive undergraduate performing arts programs in the region. The Department of Theatre and Cinema is housed in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA), located in and near the Douglas and Beatrice Covington Center for Visual and Performing Arts, featuring the Davis Performance Hall (a 350-seat venue with adjustable acoustics inspired by Carnegie Hall's Zankel Recital Hall). The college opened the Artis Center for Adaptive Innovation and Creativity, with state-of-the-art proscenium and black-box theatre spaces, costume and scenic studios, a performance hub, and faculty offices. The Department of Theatre and Cinema is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) and reports a 95% job placement rate for theatre graduates. The department offers BA and BS degrees in Theatre, with the same core NAST-accredited theatre training in both. Faculty are professional designers, directors, and actors with extensive national credits. All admissions are through Common App. No audition is required for admission to either Theatre degree.
