About this program

Radford University is a mid-sized public university in the New River Valley of southwest Virginia with one of the most comprehensive undergraduate performing arts programs in the region. The Department of Dance is housed in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA), located in and near the Douglas and Beatrice Covington Center for Visual and Performing Arts, featuring the Davis Performance Hall (a 350-seat venue with adjustable acoustics inspired by Carnegie Hall's Zankel Recital Hall). The college unveiled the Artis Center for Adaptive Innovation and Creativity, a new facility blending arts, health sciences, and technology. CVPA Dance is NASM/NAST affiliated at the college level. The Department of Dance offers three distinct degree tracks: the BA (liberal arts pathway), the BFA (performance and choreography intensive), and the BS (dance science/kinesiology pathway). Faculty are working professional artists and educators. All admissions are through Common App; the BFA requires a competitive audition, while the BA and BS do not require an audition for admission.
