About this program

Radford University is a mid-sized public university in the New River Valley of southwest Virginia with one of the most comprehensive undergraduate performing arts programs in the region. The Department of Music is housed in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA), located in and near the Douglas and Beatrice Covington Center for Visual and Performing Arts, featuring the Davis Performance Hall (a 350-seat venue with adjustable acoustics inspired by Carnegie Hall's Zankel Recital Hall). The college unveiled the Artis Center for Adaptive Innovation and Creativity, a new facility blending arts, health sciences, and technology. The Department of Music is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). It offers six distinct undergraduate degree programs spanning the liberal arts, professional performance, music education, music therapy, and music business — each with different admissions requirements, curriculum focus, and career outcomes. Faculty are working professional performers and scholars. All admissions are through Common App. Auditions are required for all music majors and the performance minor; scholarships are also awarded based on the audition.
