Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio (suburb of Columbus) is a nationally recognized liberal arts university with NASM and NAST-accredited performing arts programs. The Department of Theatre and Dance produces five mainstage productions annually — an integral part of the curriculum — and operates a 1,100-seat proscenium house (Fritsche Theatre at Cowan Hall) and a 244-seat black box (Campus Center Theatre). The BA in Theatre is designed for self-motivated students whose professional goals require study across multiple theatre disciplines or who wish to double major. BA students work alongside BFA students in the same productions, gaining exposure to the highest professional practices. The curriculum offers a common core with choice courses from design/technology, dance, and performance fields. BA students may pursue directing, playwriting, stage management, arts administration, or design pathways.
