BA in Theatre
Northwestern University — Evanston, IL
About this program
Northwestern's Theatre major is housed in the School of Communication (SoC). To study theatre at Northwestern is to seek to understand what it is to be human. All students have access to a variety of acting courses covering performance, movement, voice and dialects, storytelling, and scene study. The acting curriculum includes an optional two-year developmental sequence that teaches the study of theatre — particularly dramatic literature — from the actor's point of view. At the core of this sequence is the cohort system, which establishes ensemble ethics, collaborative culture, and close mentorship between students and their teachers. SoC's Theatre major is offered as either a BA or BS degree. All courses for SoC majors, minors, fields of concentration, and distribution requirements must be completed with a grade of C- or higher and may not be taken P/N. Students must also complete the Undergraduate Registration Requirement and the degree requirements of their home school.
