About this program
Newberry's Bachelor of Music in Performance enables students seeking a performance or private teaching career, or further graduate study, to acquire the skill and knowledge necessary for high-level instrumental or vocal performance. Special emphasis is given to development of aesthetic performance and understanding. Students begin with a Bachelor of Music major; admittance into the Music in Performance degree is determined by the Upper Division Qualifying Exam taken during the second year. Students in the BM Performance program devote nearly two-thirds of their coursework to specialized instruction in music and music performance. The degree requires both a junior and a senior recital.
