About this program
Newberry's Bachelor of Music Education provides licensure for teaching pre-kindergarten through high school in South Carolina. Students choose either choral or instrumental music as a concentration but will graduate prepared to teach in all areas and grade levels. The program works closely with Newberry's Department of Teacher Education; requirements include music history, music theory, ear training, piano, conducting, and performance, alongside applied lessons, instrument and vocal methods, music technology, studio classes, large ensembles, pedagogy, chamber music, and a required senior recital. Students complete courses in the Department of Education, culminating in a semester of student teaching.
