About this program
Florida Gulf Coast University's Bower School of Music & the Arts is located in Fort Myers, Florida. The music program is a LIMITED ACCESS PROGRAM — all applicants must complete both the FGCU general undergraduate application AND the Bower School of Music supplemental application via Acceptd (app.getacceptd.com/fgcumusic). FOUR MUSIC DEGREES: BA in Music — generalist music degree; flexible liberal arts pathway. BA in Music Performance — advanced performance-focused degree. BME in Music Education — prepares for K-12 music teaching certification in Florida. BMT in Music Therapy — prepares for national board certification as a music therapist. AUDITION REQUIREMENT: All applicants to music majors AND music minors must audition. Ensembles (separate from degree admission) are open to all FGCU students regardless of major. THEORY AND HISTORY PLACEMENT TESTS: Administered during organized audition days. MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS: Automatically considered for all applicants who apply and audition. IMPORTANT FOR MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS: Must be admitted by the November or early audition date. FACILITIES: U. Tobe Recital Hall (210-seat intimate setting) — in the Music Building.
