About this program
FAU's BFA in Musical Theatre is described as 'a highly selective, brand new degree program' designed with 'a fresh industry forward vision.' Located in a 'thriving professional community with over 25 theatre companies; FAU students have the opportunity to transition from student to professional seamlessly.' The program uses 'an acting-focused approach in voice, dance, and performance.' CURRICULUM: Acting-focused approach to voice, dance, and performance. BFA Musical Theatre students are in dance classes EVERY SEMESTER, placed at a level that challenges and strengthens their ability. Private voice study (applied voice). Musical Theatre Vocal Craft (advanced class — visiting auditionees invited to observe). ALL BFA MAJORS (MT included): Required to audition for all departmental productions and accept roles as cast. MT students perform alongside MFA candidates and TheatreLAB professional artists. PRODUCTION SEASON: 3 plays, 2 musicals, 2 dance showcases, 1 film project/year + 1 play + 1 musical in summer rep. AFFORDABILITY: Most affordable BFA program in the State of Florida for Florida residents.
