About this program
Florida Gulf Coast University's Theatre program offers a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre within the College of Arts & Sciences (Bower School of Music & the Arts). No audition is required for program admission. The TheatreLab is FGCU's professional performance space. THEATRELAB: A black box performance space in the Arts Complex that seats up to 90 people in various configurations. The seating configuration often changes for each production, creating a unique feel for every play. The flexibility of this space, along with the intimacy the audience feels with performers, allows for a unique theatrical experience. 'Theatre at FGCU is also committed to its role within the university. As such, we embrace the humanizing project that has been at the core of the art form for thousands of years.' The program commits to: sharing artistic inquiries into the human condition; continuing to develop theatre faculty recognized as practicing artists, scholars, and teachers engaged in research and creative activity; preparing all students for the marketplace of jobs as well as the marketplace of ideas. PRODUCTION AUDITIONS (separate from program admission): Production auditions are open to the FGCU community and sometimes the Durango community. All FGCU students may audition for productions regardless of major. Prepare a one-minute monologue of your choice + headshot/resume copies.
