About this program
BFA IN THEATRE — DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY: Embraces 6 areas of production: technical direction; stage management; scenic design; costume design; lighting design and technology; sound design and technology. Well-suited for students who may want to pursue a career in design, stage technology, or stage management, OR who wish to pursue an advanced degree (MFA) in Theatre Design and Technology for Higher Education or Professional Theatre. Students regularly assigned roles: master electrician; props master; dresser; scenic artist; stitcher; and more. Prescreen required via Acceptd; interviews held on FAU campus. Also possible to interview at Florida Theatre Conference (FTC) — high school students register through their drama teacher; transfer students register at flatheatre.org. BA IN THEATRE: Versatile, comprehensive liberal arts degree. No audition required. Transfer students can often graduate in 3 years. Students with greater interest in acting may schedule an audition. Students with greater interest in design and technology management should schedule an interview and portfolio review. ALL BFA MAJORS (including D&T): Required to audition for all departmental productions and accept roles as cast.
