BA in Theatre: General Studies
Florida Atlantic University — Boca Raton, FL
About this program
Florida Atlantic University's BA Theatre: General Studies program offers a broad exposure to theatre and drama for students of all backgrounds seeking a creative space for their undergraduate experience. In the liberal arts tradition, the four-year curriculum provides students with a comprehensive range of valuable skills through training in various acting techniques and disciplines, in-depth dramatic study classes, and technical theatre skills and tools. Students develop control of voice, pitch, projection, breathing, and articulation through dedicated voice classes, while movement and dance courses teach them to become poised, self-assured, natural, and expressive onstage. The program emphasizes a holistic approach to theatre training, with students encouraged to become involved in all areas of theatre and dance production from their first day on campus, learning techniques spanning modern and contemporary acting, Kathryn Fitzmaurice and Patsy Rodenburg voice methods, Laban movement, stage combat, ballet, tap dance, modern dance, and technical theatre including costume design, lighting design, sound design, and stage management.
