BFA in Theatre
Emerson College — Boston, MA
About this program
Emerson offers three additional BFA programmes in theatre beyond Theatre and Performance and Musical Theatre: BFA IN THEATRE EDUCATION AND PERFORMANCE (performance track): No prescreen required. Audition required. Same monologue requirements as BFA Theatre and Performance — two contrasting monologues from contemporary plays (1950-present), 1-3 minutes each. Integrates theatre arts and education: students see education 'as the tool with which they create the future.' Both stage performance and classroom teaching preparation. BFA IN THEATRE EDUCATION (non-performance track): No audition. Interview only via Acceptd AuditionRoom. Statement of intent required (50-100 words). For students focused on theatre education without a performance emphasis. BFA IN THEATRE (non-performance track — for producers/directors/playwrights/dramaturgs/arts administrators): No audition. Interview only via Acceptd AuditionRoom. Statement of intent required (50-100 words): what is the student interested in studying, learning, or doing either at Emerson or after graduation? 25-40 students accepted. 'Dynamic, comprehensive training grounded in the liberal arts. With a structure artfully balanced between study and practice, breadth and depth, arts and academics, students will explore the world of theatre and theatre within the world.' NOTE: Students may only apply to ONE Emerson programme — choose carefully.
