About this program
Eastern University's BA in Dance provides comprehensive dance training within a Christian liberal arts environment. Unlike the Theatre programme, the Dance BA requires an audition for programme admission. AUDITION: Held in February in McInnis dance studio 107. Contact Prof. Stephen Welsh to sign up for an audition time. The audition evaluates ballet, modern, jazz, and improvisation. CURRICULUM: Ballet technique; modern technique; jazz technique; improvisation; dance composition and choreography; dance history; Christian worldview integration in dance; pedagogy; production participation. DANCE COMPANIES AND ORGANISATIONS: Dance Repertory — audition-based performance company; performs concert works throughout the year. Dance Ministry — service-oriented performance for worship and outreach contexts. Eastern Dance University Group (EUDG) — student-led dance organisation open to all Eastern students. CAPSTONE: Students complete a portfolio/efolio at graduation documenting their artistic development, reflecting on their training, and articulating their faith-informed approach to dance.
