About this program
Four-year Bachelor of Music General Degree at Dalhousie University's Fountain School of Performing Arts in Halifax, Nova Scotia — the cultural centre of Eastern Canada. Students develop expertise as listeners, performers, and creators across styles from classical to popular, performing opera, wind ensemble, orchestral, new music, composition, choral, jazz, funk, music theatre, and pop. Access to Joseph Strug Concert Hall, a new state-of-the-art performance space. Small-school feel within a large university: one-on-one instruction and world-class performance spaces. Halifax is a hub for classical music institutions including Symphony Nova Scotia, ScotiaFest, Cecilia Concerts, and the Lunenburg Academy of Music. In third and fourth year, students can continue with the BMus general degree or apply for one of three concentrations: Composition, Musicology, or Performance.
