About this program
Coker University’s BA in Theatre program offers a round-table learning philosophy that cultivates critical and analytical thinking while surrounding students with a creative community to inspire, support, and challenge them to reach their full potential. The program focuses on integrating a comprehensive curriculum with a multitude of opportunities for valuable hands-on experience — from productions to workshops, internships, study abroad, and more. Students explore four major types of theatre, identify stage areas in a proscenium arrangement, and work on controlling body movement and vocal inflection. Concentrations allow students to specialize in performance (acting), musical theatre (voice + dance + acting), technical theatre and design, or playwriting. The Musical Theatre concentration takes courses in voice, acting, dance, and theatre, supplemented with specific courses like Broadway and Hollywood Musicals.
