About this program
The University of Wyoming Department of Theatre and Dance offers a BFA in Theatre & Performance Studies with multiple concentrations including Acting Performance, Dance Performance, Dance Science, Design/Technical Management, Musical Theatre, and Theatre/English. Located at 7,220 feet above sea level, it is Wyoming's only four-year theatre and dance training program. The program emphasizes a well-rounded, forward-thinking training approach grounded in curiosity, exploration, innovation, and collaboration. Students are encouraged to take creative risks and engage in interdisciplinary work that supports diverse career futures. The department is housed in the recently renovated Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts (BCPA), one of the best-equipped performing arts venues in the Rocky Mountain region, featuring three primary performance spaces (385-seat Main Stage, 256-seat Thrust Theatre, and 140-seat Studio Theatre) along with multiple dance and acting studios, a design/tech lab, and camera studio.
