About this program
The University of Wyoming Department of Theatre and Dance offers a BFA in Theatre and Dance with several performance concentrations including Acting Performance, Dance Performance, and Musical Theatre. Located in Wyoming's only four-year theatre and dance training program at 7,220 feet above sea level, the program emphasizes a well-rounded, forward-thinking training approach grounded in curiosity, exploration, innovation, and collaboration. Students are encouraged to take creative risks and engage in interdisciplinary work in an inclusive environment. The program is housed in the recently renovated Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts (BCPA), featuring three primary performance spaces (385-seat Main Stage, 256-seat Thrust Theatre, and 140-seat Studio Theatre) along with state-of-the-art dance studios, acting studios, design/tech labs, and camera studios. The department offers a diverse production season ranging from contemporary plays, classics, musicals, operas, and new works, providing numerous performance opportunities through departmental productions and student-driven projects via the Associated Students of the Performing Arts (ASOPA).
