BA in Dance
University of Kansas — Lawrence, KS
About this program
The Bachelor of Arts in Dance at the University of Kansas offers comprehensive technical training built on a solid liberal arts foundation. The program provides integrated training in ballet, modern, jazz, and other dance techniques, including classical Indian dance, African dance, flamenco, musical theatre dance, improvisation, composition, and dance history. Unlike many dance programs, the BA does not require an audition for admission; instead, students must pass a technical and academic evaluation at the end of their sophomore year. This approach allows students to pursue dual majors or advance to graduate study in numerous fields. The curriculum includes 120 total credit hours, with coursework in dance technique, composition, dance studies, and a senior capstone project. Students may also audition for scholarships. The program prepares graduates for professional careers in dance or further academic study.
