About this program
Purchase College (State University of New York at Purchase) is a public liberal arts college in Purchase, New York — 35 minutes from Manhattan. The Conservatory of Dance is internationally recognised, housed in the first facility constructed in the United States solely for the study and performance of dance. The BFA in Dance Performance offers concentrations in Ballet, Dance Composition (Choreography), and Dance Production. The Purchase Dance Company (comprised of BFA students) performs major concerts in the Performing Arts Center, tours throughout the US and internationally, and presents The Nutcracker annually. The programme has a strong commitment to musical training — the curriculum includes historical surveys of musical resources and extensive listening and analysis — alongside daily technique work in both classical ballet and modern/contemporary dance.
