About this program
Purchase College (State University of New York at Purchase) is a public liberal arts college in Purchase, New York — a suburb of New York City. The Conservatory of Theatre Arts is consistently ranked among the top five theatre schools in the nation by Princeton Review, offering three undergraduate degrees: BFA in Acting (only 18 actors accepted per year), BFA in Theatre Design/Technology, and BFA in Theatre and Performance. The Conservatory's training focuses on the individual needs and strengths of each student rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Students participate in showcases and exhibitions in New York City, Los Angeles, and on campus in the Repertory Theatre (a black box in the Performing Arts Center). BFA Acting students work on Purchase Repertory Theatre productions in the same building. The proximity to New York City is central to the programme's professional pipeline.
