The Bachelor of Music in Performance at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) offers specialization in the study of voice, piano, organ, guitar, or any orchestral instrument. This degree allows for deep study of the chosen performance area with an expert artist-level faculty performer, with the aim of a career as a performer and teacher. SWOSU includes one of Oklahoma’s largest music schools — one of established excellence. Undergraduate degrees offered at Southwestern include: Bachelor of Music Education (Instrumental/General), Bachelor of Music Education (Vocal/General), Bachelor of Music (Performance or Music Business), and Bachelor of Music (Music Therapy). Students study with superb musicians committed to academic and musical advancement. With individual training customized to meet student needs, SWOSU’s Department of Music gives students the educational and performance opportunities to put them on the path of musical success. The Department of Music is one of the region’s largest and finest music schools. The excellent quality of training offered at SWOSU is demonstrated daily by the hundreds of graduates now working in Oklahoma and throughout the United States. SWOSU’s performance students have won competitions at state and regional contests (NATS, MTNA), attended special summer workshops, and participated in SWOSU’s diverse ensembles. SWOSU performing groups are frequently selected to perform at state level music conventions and perform concerts on campus and on regional tours. SWOSU was established in 1901 and educates more than 5,000 students per semester. NASM-accredited.
