Sam Houston State University is a public comprehensive university in Huntsville, Texas — approximately 70 miles north of Houston — enrolling over 21,000 students. The College of Arts and Media houses the School of Music, the Department of Theatre & Musical Theatre, and the Department of Dance. The School of Music is NASM-accredited and offers four professional degree pathways: the BA in Music (broad liberal arts approach), the BM in Instrumental Performance, the BM in Vocal Performance, the BM in Piano Performance, the BM in Composition, the BM in Music Education (Instrumental, Choral, or String certification tracks), and the BM in Music Therapy.
