Saint Mary's College is a private Catholic women's liberal arts institution in Notre Dame, Indiana, adjacent to the University of Notre Dame. Founded in 1844 by the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Saint Mary's is recognised as a visionary innovator in women's education. The college enrolls approximately 1,500 undergraduate students with a 12:1 student-faculty ratio. The Department of Communication Studies, Dance & Theatre offers a BA in Theatre alongside communications and dance opportunities. Saint Mary's theatre programme is distinguished by the Margaret Hill Visiting Artist Series — a unique annual programme that has brought Sigourney Weaver, Lily Tomlin, Glenn Close, Hal Prince, Dianne Wiest, Audra McDonald, and The Second City to campus for direct mentorship with students. No other undergraduate theatre programme offers a comparable visiting artist series. Dance is available as a minor only at Saint Mary's. Musical Theatre is offered as a minor only.
