About this program

Saint Mary's College is a private Catholic women's liberal arts institution in Notre Dame, Indiana, adjacent to the University of Notre Dame. Founded in 1844 by the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Saint Mary's is recognised as a visionary innovator in women's education. The college enrolls approximately 1,500 undergraduate students with a 12:1 student-faculty ratio. The Department of Music offers two undergraduate degrees — a BA in Music and a BM in Music Education — within a liberal arts environment that also benefits from cross-registration and ensemble collaboration with the University of Notre Dame. Saint Mary's music students may participate in the Notre Dame Orchestra and bands, including the Notre Dame Marching Band (approximately 60 Saint Mary's students march annually). Opportunities to perform with the South Bend Symphony Orchestra are also available. An audition is required to declare the Music major.
